Friedensreich Hundertwasser is regarded as one of the most unconventional artists, who gave shape to his ideas not only in numerous pictures but also in architecture. The train station in Uelzen was created according to his specifications as an EXPO project and combines artistic aspirations with ecological functionality.
On 25 November 2000 the new station was inaugurated. Since then it has developed into a tourist attraction and attracts over 450,000 visitors annually. Guided tours can be booked in advance and accompanied by a competent guide, but even a spontaneous stroll through the station gives your imagination new impulses.
